of the group at 6:00 PM in the hotel lobby. Welcome dinner. (D)
3rd Day/Sat - GDANSK. After buffet breakfast, get acquainted with this beautiful maritime center of Poland and its tri-cities, Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot. Admire the beautiful restoration of Gdansk's old town and walk on the longest Pier on the Baltic in the resort of Sopot. In the Gothic cathedral of Oliwa listen to a short concert on the famous pipe organ, of its kind in Europe. Afternoon is free for shopping for amber souvenirs in abundance here. (B) 4th Day/Sun - GDANSK - Malbork. Today you will drive to Malbork to tour an impressive medieval structure where mighty Teutonic Knights ruled in the 15th century. Return to Gdansk for balance of day at leisure. (B) 5th Day/Mon - GDANSK/TORUN/WARSAW. This morning your motorcoach departs for the heroic Polish capital of Warsaw. En route stop in the medieval city of Torun, a UNESCO site, best known for the famous Polish astronomer N. Copernicus who was born here in 1473. Visit his home-museum, the market square, and the Gothic St. John's Cathedral. Be sure to taste the Torun gingerbread made according to the secret medieval recipe. Lunch on your own. Continue to Warsaw for dinner and overnight. (B,D) 6th Day/Tue - WARSAW. Highlights of your half-day guided tour include the Old Town, rebuilt with great care after WW II, with its colorful Old Market Square, the Barbican defense walls, St. John's Cathedral. Continue to Jewish Ghetto Memorial and along the Royal Route to Lazienki Park created by the last king of Poland in the 18th century. In the afternoon, visit the magnificent Wilanow Palace, called the "Polish Versailles", built as summer residence by King Jan Sobieski known for the victorious battle over the Turks in 1683. (B,D) 7th Day/Wed - WARSAW/Czestochowa/Wadowice/KRAKOW. After breakfast, depart South for Krakow. En route, stop in Czestochowa, the pilgrimage center of Poland. Tour the Jasna Gora Monastery and the Black Madonna Shrine with miraculous icon. After lunch continue to Wadowice, birthplace of Pope John Paul II. Overnight in Krakow. Your hotel is situated in the heart of the city within a short walk to all the tourist attractions. (B,L) 8th Day/Thu - KRAKOW - Wieliczka. This morning tour of the medieval city of Krakow includes the Wawel Castle with the Coronation Cathedral where Polish kings were crowned for four centuries, Old Town Square dominated by the St. Mary's Church with famous Gothic altar. In the afternoon depart for Wieliczka salt mine (9 miles) and discover its underground wonders. Walk through chambers, grottoes and chapels carved from salt. There are even underground lakes and a sanatorium for asthma patients. (B) 9th Day/Fri - KRAKOW - Zakopane. Today enjoy a whole day excursion to Zakopane, all-year vacation resort hidden in the majestic Tatra Mountains with unique architecture, traditions and lifestyle. Climb the Gubalowka Mountain by a funicular for a spectacular vistas. You will have time to browse through the bazaar of native arts and crafts. Lunch in a typical cottage where you can taste some local specialties. Return to Krakow for overnight. (B, L) 10th Day/Sat
